The Psychology of Colours in Work Wear

Believe it or not, colors play an important role in boosting our image in the workplace. They also greatly affect our moods and the way we interact with the people around us.  What are the characteristics of different business colors?

Black - is the color of power and sophistication. Black is a good color for trousers, jackets, or shirts but should be broken up with other colors. It is also known to have a slimming effect.

Yellow - The person who wears yellow denotes they are playful, casual, approachable, and not afraid to embrace change. Seeing people wear yellow clothes can cheer people up and such people are perceived as having a sunny personality.

Blue - is a calming color that inspires serenity. It is also said that it subconsciously increases productivity.

White -  is associated with purity and serenity but it can also be viewed as bland; this means it should be used sparingly. White is the classic color for an office shirt because it provides a good background for the statement color of a tie.

Red -  is a powerful color associated with speed, aggression, and excitement. Red is a color that provokes strong emotions. This makes red a great color to wear to negotiations, meetings, and sales pitches.

Pink - This color suggests that a person is confident, daring & independent.  Women can use it to soften a strong, dark-colored suit and look more approachable. Men can wear pale pink or salmon-accented clothes.

Green - it evokes nature, tranquillity, and good luck. Green is a good color for women’s dresses. It is also another great color for accessories.

The colors are beautiful. They have meanings and emotional impacts on the person who wears them and also on others.
